A lunch conversation turned adventure. With 53 hours until deadline and a script that called for weather warmer than Detroit’s current 32 degrees, the three Doribros headed south from Detroit to Daytona Beach to produce, cast, shoot and edit their submission for the Doritos Crash The Super Bowl commercial contest. With a 18 hour drive ahead of them, they hit to the walls of social media creating various forms of content to assist in finding their needed cast. Striking gold after a day of searching, we then headed down another three hours to Deerfield Beach to meet the cast of new friends willing to spontaneously participate in our film. After being booted from the first location, we then headed 30 minutes away to Delray Beach where our cast had hailed from. After a four hour shoot full of non stop laughs, radical scooter action sports, physical fitness and a six bag Doritos body massage, The Doribros had successfully captured what they had set out to shoot. Following two hours on the road and a fast food edit was quickly followed by a phone call back to Detroit; Our audio designer was smacking plants, chomping down bags of delicious Doritos and practicing his bird sounds. Racing back to the hotel for internet connection and color correction, we had finished our commercial submission piece with 42 minutes left until deadline. Four days with a total of six hours sleep, 3026 miles traveled, and a lifetime worth of stories and jokes, this project has come to an end. A Film by Raymond Rivard, Joshua Hanford and Noah Simon. Audio design by Aaron Eschenburg. Behind the scenes documentary soon to follow. “Doribros, thats the hashtag.”
